The DeAnd'Rankings: Volume IX

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that typically ends after about 1,000 words every Friday late-morning (unless it's the All-Star Break or the Committee is on vacation). Yes, that's right. It's back. We are now entering the season's home-stretch, which means the DeAnd'Rankings are heating up. After what was a struggle (due to suspension) for Suns center Deandre Ayton in the early going, he started gaining ground on old-head Brooklyn Nets center DeAndre Jordan. But Jordan's recent surge has kept him in the #1 overall spot for the season thus far. A pair of Hawks - De'Andre Hunter and DeAndre' Bembry, have rather consistently found themselves in the 3 and 4 spots, but you really never can say for sure how the rankings will turn at any given moment. We've already seen injuries and suspensions shake up the rankings, maybe this time it will be something more unexpected (I don't wanna suggest  the coronavirus, but at least that's topical an...

The DeAnd'Rankings: Volume VIII

Eight rankings! We're at the eighth edition of the DeAnd'Rankings - the internet's definitive place for ranking the four active NBA players whose names are spelled d-e-a-n-d-r-e but who also can't seem to match up the capitalization or punctuation therein. We, the Committee, don't take this job lightly (unless we're on vacation, hence a multi-week gap in rankings). If you're new here, the concept is exactly what has been laid out in the previous paragraph. While the Committee certainly takes into account the season-long body of work, the rankings are updated weekly, which means a hot week can shake up the rankings. But first, we always start with five questions. Q1: How heavily should team success be considered? It's considered, but it's not necessarily a huge part of the equation. The reason for this is that all four teams - Bembry and Hunter's Hawks, Jordan's Nets, and Ayton's Suns - are all pretty awful teams. The Nets are playin...

The DeAnd'Rankings: Volume VII

Our long national nightmare (OK fine, one of them) is over. After a vacation and an illness, the DeAnd'Rankings are back. If you're new here, the DeAnd'Rankings is a 100% infallible ranking of the top players in the NBA named DeAndre (or variations thereof, so long as the same 7 letters are used in the same order): Deandre Ayton, DeAndre' Bembery, De'Andre Hunter, and DeAndre Jordan. The Committee pores over the numbers, examines everything from every angle, and comes together with the perfect ranking system every week. Previous entries are now a touch outdated, thanks to the Committee's visit to Hawaii, which shall not be excused. Per usual, we'll start with five questions. Q1: Did the Committee actually go on vacation or are they just lazy? A full serving of both options is at play. Q2: Why are you still riding this gimmick? Gimmick? Gimmick ? The DeAnd'Rankings now has a long history of existence and that's not something that can be ov...
